GRACE 101: INTRODUCTION

The purpose of the Grace Experience Series is to enable us to understand what is meant by the term GRACE and what this means for us as believers in Christ.
I am sure that at more than one point in your life, if asked, “How are you doing?”, your reply would be variations of “By God’s grace, “I’m fine.” It has become a generic response to this question but many of us do not understand fully what Grace means and how it is at work in our lives.

This raises the question, “What is Grace?” Grace is the unmerited totality of God’s work through Jesus Christ in our lives. Unmerited because we do not work for it, we do not earn it, we do not deserve it.
Every single thing that God has done in the lives of His people since the death and resurrection of Jesus falls under the aegis of grace.

John 1:17  For the law was given by Moses, butgrace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Let’s look at a few things that fall under this category.

1. Salvation by grace

Ephesians 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Titus 2:11  For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

2. Justification by grace

Romans 3:24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

3. Bringing forth good works by grace

1 Corinthians 15:10  But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

There are a whole lot of things that come under Grace and it is my belief that this series would open our eyes to the true nature of grace and not just an edge we have over other people by virtue of the fact that we are believers.
The next piece would look at the Origin Story of Grace. Read the book of Hebrews 8:4-13 for a preview of the next session.

God bless you for reading and have a fruitful day.
Shalom!
