In the previous edition we established one thing; God has taken care of man’s part in the covenant of Grace. What does it mean? Do we just sit there and be happy?

John 1:17  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

From the verses put up, God sent the Lord Jesus Christ, who came with the gift of Grace and how we are to access this gift is to BELIEVE!!! Is it that simple?! Yes. Yes, it is.  Then how do we get it wrong if it is so simple. There are two things involved.

1. Believers do not grow in their belief

2. Believers trying to do more than what is expected of them
You are probably wondering, how does one grow in belief? The answer is simple. Find out more about what you believe in and that’s where faith comes in.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Romans 10:12  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

Romans 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:14  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Romans 10:15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Romans 10:16  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Romans 10:17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Paul describes this relationship beautifully in the verses above. When we hear of God’s goodness to us in the covenant He has established, we believe in our hearts and we confess with our mouths and are saved. How hearing about God caused us to believe is the same way that hearing about God would cause our belief to grow and will cause our faith to be established.

Let us endeavour to know more about this God of Grace and what this Grace gives us access to as believers. The next edition will touch on how a believer can do more than is expected of him or her and miss it entirely.
