The Commendation of God’s Love ❤️ unto All of Humanity.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (KJV)

Romans 5:8

What a wonderful verse of scripture. This brings warmth to the heart of all who happen to stumble upon it. God loves all of His creation. He loves all of mankind that He created in His image and likeness and this inspired passage shows how He commended this Love unto us.

In our society today, from our experience of constant deceit , manipulation and hurt, many have come to this conclusion – “Talk is cheap.” Words have been used by some humans to manipulate others into doing what they want.
Especially in the our dating community. Some men play with the hearts of women with words of love, loyalty, reassurance etc. but never come through. The same goes for some ladies. Lies, beguilement, betrayal etc. These are all cloaked in verbal statements.

Society adapted and became much smarter. They settled with this resolve, “Actions speaks louder than words”. Though I cannot say that for all. Go figure.
The Word of God – The Bible – is not ignorant of the deceptive nature of mankind.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

However, God is not man that He should lie or deceive to get what He wants(Numbers 23:19). He made all, knows all and owns all. He is omnipotent and nothing is impossible for Him to do. When He says something, He surely accomplishes it in the end because only He has all the power to do so. He doesn’t need to roll with our whole Actions-speaks louder-than -Words” front that we have going on. But He gets us and stoops to our level not only to tell us that He loves us,  but by showing it first.
The opening passsge proclaims that God commends His Love to us.

The Word “commend” in English refers to a public acknowledgment or appraisal of a deed. This is the KJV English translation of the original Greek word, sunistēmi that was used in making that statement. The verb sunistēmi is the result of the conjoint of two words: sun and histēmi. Sun simply means “together with” and histēmi refers to make something stand or to establish something.
What does the Bible mean that God commended His Love towards us?

His Love for us has always been there. He made us out of Love. He has always loved us but many do not seem to acknowledge that. So He stoops to our level to act rather than to speak. And this time gathered together all His love and cause it to stand before all of mankind, using this remarkable deed. His demonstrated to all of mankind publicly, the Love He feels for us through this deed – that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Many Bible translations of the Greek do not show the immensity of the statement. He showcased His love to all mankind; not to an elect number of saints. The phrase “were yet…” doesn’t seem to rightly describe the intention of the the Inspired Writer. One of the most closest English translations to what this Writer intended is the Young’s Literal Translation (YLT) version; which rightly puts it this way:

And God doth commend His own love to us, that, in our being still sinners, Christ did die for us.

In our still being sinners, God showcased His love by sending His son to die for you and I. This message is to all of humanity.

God so loves the World that He gave His only begotten son to die for our sins. He didn’t come to judge our wrong, deceitful and wicked deeds but rather to save us (John 3:16-17). This is truly magnificent.
God responded to our resolve and made “His action speak louder than His words” for us. His Talk is never cheap. His Talk made all things and keeps all things in creation in place. That’s how infinitely expensive His Words are. And Yet, He decided to do what we wanted and made His actions speak for Him. Oh How He Loves Us!

This display was for every single person; regardless of your religion and beliefs. Whether you do not believe that He exists or hate Him for one reason or another. He loves you unconditionally.

Unlike the other religions, God is not just telling you through some writing somewhere or a messenger. No! He is showed it to you. This actually happened. History cannot deny that fact. Jesus Christ, who knew no sin, died for your sins. Whether you turn your back on Him, He loves you and His display of Love can never be erased from the sands of time.

“For when we were still without strength, in due time “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:6-8 NIV‬‬

The word “ungodly” (asebēs) refers to the “irreverent” towards God. The irreverent are those who do not treat God with respect and those who do not take Him seriously. These are the ones Christ died for – everyone. For all of mankind had sinned and fallen short of God’s glory(Romans 3:23).

The righteous (believers) are imputed with the righteousness of Jesus Christ because they have received His display of Love through Christ and reconciled with Him.

Conclusion

We prefer actions to words because of the kind of deception we have seen being displayed by mankind. Now here is one being offered to you by your Creator. He is not only reassuring His love for Us through His all-powerful and infinitely expensive words, but displayed this love to us through actions in order to connect with us on our level.

Truth is still truth whether you believe it or not. God loves You. He initiated this wonderful relationship He wants to have with you by being the first to say, “I love You.” He not only says it but has displayed it publicly for all of creation to see. He’s not just some smooth-talker. He backs His Claims. Now it’s your call. Will you keep ignoring the only One who truly Loves You?

Christ dying for all of mankind is just the beginning. That is just The proposal. The real deal is seen after accepting the love proposal. The depth of His love for us has no end. There are so many things to enjoy of His love once we accept His proposal. The Paul, the Apostle even prayed that we, the believers, come to the comprehension of the height, depth, breadth and length of the riches of His love(Ephesians 3:14-19). So much to enjoy. Isn’t that exciting?

I love God because He loved me first with the kind of love that is better than life (1 John 4:19). And I will always continue to thank Him for His love and enjoy the infinitesimal quantity of it. I entreat you all to do the same.

Shalom!!!
